1919

Remi Janssens grows up between the spools of silk thread in his father's weaving mill on the Ghent vegetable market, and later starts a shop for 'all kinds of clothing fabrics' in Deinze. Ready-to-wear clothing does not yet exist, and customers have their fabrics processed in the shop themselves into ready-made suits, tailors, coats and dresses.

1949

After the Second World War, Remi's sons, Gaston & Roger Janssens, take over Stoffen Janssens. The brothers opt resolutely for women's fabrics, and expand both the shop and the wholesale business. They travel to Italy, Switzerland and France to buy the most beautiful fabrics, and Stoffen Janssens grows into a house of trust and quality.

1979

Geert Janssens takes over Stoffen Janssens from his father Gaston, and opens a second shop in Sint-Denijs-Westrem in 1984. Ten years later, Geert makes his dream come true, and moves the shop to the Korenlei in Ghent, then a quiet and somewhat forgotten place. From that moment on, Geert and his wife Chantal focus on exclusive and high-quality fabrics for private customers.

After her fashion education and internship at fashion houses such as Natan, Eva Janssens designs her first custom work under the name Kollektie Eva. The shop and studio are increasingly intertwined, and in 2009 the family business starts working under one label: Janssens Fabrics & Tailoring.
